A late Marlow winner delays the Curfews title celebrations

By Ian Townsend

We had wins for five of the top six- including a nine goal thriller where Marlow came out on top- and at the bottom end vital victories for Casuals, Chips, Tangerines and Rovers

Chertsey Town were close to taking the title after coming from behind to defeat Hanworth Villa, but they’ll have to wait a little longer after Marlow somehow finally overcame Thatcham Town. The Curfews fell behind on twenty minutes, Rayan Djouadi heading home the opener, but were quickly level, Reuben Collins with the equaliser, and then went ahead just before the break, Gianluca Botti scoring what turned out to be the winner.

Chertsey are eleven points clear of Marlow, with three games left to play. Marlow have four games left to play, so of course have twelve points left to play for- but Chertsey could win the title with victory over Ascot United next weekend.

Marlow won a remarkable match at Thatcham Town, their fifth win in six and a game which saw them four-one down at half time. The Kingfishers went ahead on six minutes, Jordi Ebanda getting the first goal of a first half hat trick, and although Dawid Rogalski levelled from the spot on twenty two minutes the rest of the half was a wonderful spell for the hosts, Sam Tanner and two more from Ebanda leaving them in a seemingly invincible position at the break- but, of course, it was anything but. David Tarpey pulled it back to four-two four minutes after the restart, and just before the hour Rogalski’s THIRTY NINTH of the season reduced the arrears to one. The equaliser arrived with ten minutes remaining, Kai Hamilton-Olise making it four-four, and, somehow, a minute into added time Rogalski completed the second hat trick of the afternoon, and a seemingly impossible comeback had been completed, five-four the final score.

Callum Winchcombe saw red late on for the hosts.

Leatherhead dropped to third after falling to defeat at fifth place Southall. The Tanners had won their previous six matches and the Manager of the Month Award, so perhaps the curse was in operation as Frank Puemo was dismissed on fifty minutes, and when Anthony O’Connor scored the only goal of the game eight minutes later. The All remain fifth, three points ahead of sixth place Westfield.

Raynes Park Vale won a five goal thriller at Ascot United- and it was indeed rather thrilling, the winning goal arriving deep in added time. It looked as if Vale had the match sown up in the first half, going in two-nil up at the break after Jordan Gallagher and Tom Barnes scored on thirty one and thirty six minutes. The Yellas halved the deficit nine minutes into the second half, Oliver Mason with the goal, and a minute from time looked to have picked up a point, Harry Laflin with the equaliser- by this point against ten men, as Barnes had just been dismissed. The points, however, were destined for south west London, as the depleted visitors got the winner four minutes into added time, Callum Hope sending the travelling support wild.

Vale are one point ahead of Southall, four clear of sixth place Westfield.

Westfield had to come from behind to defeat Guernsey in the early kick off. After seventy three goalless minutes we had four goals in the next three hundred and sixty seconds, the first of them coming from the Green Lions Sam Murray, but within two minutes Manolis Gogonas had equalised, and four minutes later Mayowa Adaje got what proved to be the winner. Field have a three point gap to make up on fifth place Southall- and a goal difference deficit of nine.

South Park Reigate are seventh after a two-two draw with Badshot Lea, the Sparks coming from two goals down after the Baggies made a speedy start. Kareem Akinibbi put the visitors ahead on eleven minutes and on sixteen minutes Lamin Ceesay made it two, but the Sparks had a goal back before the break, Craig McGee giving them hope. The equaliser arrived just after the hour, Sam King with it, and that was that.

Two first half goals saw Sutton Common Rovers back to wining ways. Maxwell Oldham put them ahead just before the half hour, and Ben Holden quickly doubled the advantage- and what they had, they held.

Binfield welcomed Ashford Town with a desperate need for three points against one of their relegation rivals, but the points went to the Tangerines. The only goal of the game arrived just after half time, Connor Young scoring it for the visitors, and it ensures that the gap between the sides is now eleven points- albeit with the Moles having three games in hand. Binfield are ten points from safety.

Chipstead ended a run of four successive defeats with a vital victory at Hartley Wintney. The Row had only one win from their previous eight, and that poor form continued as they suffered two early sucker punches. Ewan Sanchez opened the scoring for the Chips after just eleven minutes, and five minutes later Dan Berry made it two. That was the end of the scoring, and it sees the Chips ten points- and one place- clear of the drop zone.

Corinthian-Casuals gave themselves a little hope, defeating Northwood two-one at King George’s Field. Our bottom side took only two minutes to go ahead, Frazier Osunkoya with the goal, and the in-form Aderi Arthur-Dede made it six goals in just nine matches when scoring for the fourth game in succession to make it two. The Woods got a goal back eleven minutes after half time, Archie James giving them hope, but that hope perhaps departed with a red card for Deago Dunbar-Bonnie right at the end. Casuals are eleven points from safety with five matches left to play, and that was their first win of the year.
