A Sussex Wednesday

Lewes and Horsham triumph on the road

It was a good night for Sussex in the Pitching In isthmian Premier, as Lewes and Horsham travelled away and came home with three points and three goals each.

The Rooks built on their victory against Cray Wanderers on Saturday, climbing to third place with victory at Kingstonian. They fell behind, somewhat against the run of play, Eddie Dsane putting the K's ahead on twenty six minutes, but were soon level, Ryan Gondoh scoring from distance. After the break Chris Whelpdale made it two in two by adding their second, and on sixty seven minutes Kalvin Lumbombo-Kalala made sure of the points by adding a third.

Wanderers were facing their second Sussex club in a row, and the outcome turned out to be rather similar. Both the hosts and Horsham were looking for their first points of the campaign, and the Hornets got them, Jack Strange and Bobby Price putting them two up at the break. Anthony Cook gave the home fans hope with a goal just before the hour, but right at the end Daniel Ajakaiye made quite sure that the points were heading back down the A23 and along the A264. The Hornets, who lolst to Hornchurch at the weekend, are up to tenth.
