A trio of Lancers move from the Docks

By Ian Townsend

Lukas Franzen-Jones, Charlie Bennett and Jack Meeres are new at Lancing

Lancing seem to be signing on Dockers at a rate of knots, as three more Newhaven players head to Culver Road, taking the Yellow Dockers continent up to four in a week following the signing of Alex Plummer.

Lukas Franzen-Jones, a forward, isn't entirely new to the South East Division as he managed two goals in seven appearances for Haywards Heath Town last season, sandwiched between two spells at Newhaven, and has also spent a little time at Burgess Hill Town. East Preston, Pagham and Saltdean United are amongst his other clubs, and he has been rather prolific at Newhaven.

Charlie Bennett is a midfielder who can also play in defence. Also a former Hillian, he forced his way into the first team at Leylands Park after coming through the youth setup, and has been with Newhaven since the autumn of 2020- not that we played a great deal of football in the autumn of 2020. He was part of the Dockers side who lost to the Lancers in a relegation/promotion play off at the end of the 21/22 campaign.

Jack Meeres, a defender, also has Isthmian experience with East Grinstead Town. He was on the bench for that inter-step play off match.
