AB1 Golden Gloves Awards- January 2022

It’s time to recognise our best defences of January! Please note, the outcomes are all calculated on statistics in league matches.

Here we go:

Premier Division

We’re off to Bridge Avenue, and paying tribute to the mean backline at Hornchurch. The Urchins went undefeated in January, won every game but one (a draw with leaders Worthing), and kept four clean sheets in the process- a quite remarkable record. Congratulations to Urchins keeper Joe Wright and his fabulous defence.

North Division
Aveley played five league matches in January, won them all, and rather remarkably did so without conceding a single goal. It’s no wonder that they ended up at the top of the Pitching In Isthmian North Division, and it’s no wonder that we’re sending plaudits to Parkside for the second time today. Congrats go to David Hughes and all who stand in front of him.

South Central Division

It’s a clean sweep of awards for Hanwell Town, who have already lifted our Performance and Manager prizes. The Geordies have had a quite remarkable January, scoring twenty goals and conceding none- no, not one! Hugo Sobte and his defence have as much to be proud of as that razor sharp attack- many congratulations!

South East Division

Haywards Heath Town are having a fine season in the Pitching In Isthmian South East Division, and they’ve had a fine January, with four clean sheets out of five. Only Ashford United managed to breach the Heath rearguard, and it didn’t do them much good because the Mid Sussex side won that one anyway! Plaudits are due to Billy Collings and his parsimonious defence.
