AB1 Golden Gloves Awards- September 2019

By Ian Townsend

Here are the winners of our September Golden Gloves Awards, sponsored by AB1 Goalkeeping

Another month over, another collection of mean defences to be recognised. Please note, the outcomes are all calculated on statistics, and this month- because of a plethora of cup matches- we’ve limited the winners to clubs who have played a minimum of three league fixtures. So here we go:

Premier Division

Horsham haven’t just had a magnificent September, they’ve had a magnificent season so far, and ended the month riding high in the upper reaches of the Premier Division table. September saw them play three league matches, record three league victories, and concede only one goal- so our award goes to the mean defence at the Camping World Community Stadium.

North Division

We’re heading east, into Essex, through the outskirts at Southend, past a collection of beautifully kept allotments, and arriving at Great Wakering Rovers, who pick up our North Division award. Three league matches saw Rovers score seven goals, concede only two, and soar up the North Division table. Congratulations and prizes are heading to Burroughs Park.

South Central Division

Tooting & Mitcham United have been magnificent at both ends of the field- and in all competitions- but it's league matches alone we're looking at, and they had the best defence, conceding only one goal in their three games. Congratulations to all at Imperial Fields for the second time today!

South East Division

Hastings United have been mean and moody in defence. Three league matches in September saw them concede only one goal, and not lose at all! They started this season as favourites for South East promotion, and they've continued to show why since it started. Congrats to the miserly defence at Pilot Field.

Thanks to AB1 Goalkeeping for being our sponsors. You can take a look at their magnificent products- and they don’t just sell gloves- by heading HERE.

Premier League winner and international goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will be best known for his work between the posts, particularly for Stoke City, Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth. But he also has his own company- AB1 Goalkeeping- who provide magnificent products for discerning goalkeepers everywhere- and we are lucky enough to have them as sponsors of our Golden Gloves Award. As they explain:

'AB1 Goalkeeping was the brainchild of one of the Premier League’s leading goalkeepers, Asmir Begovic. With his 15 years’ experience playing at the highest levels of top-flight international football, plus a development team with over 20 years’ experience of developing first-class goalkeeping products, we have a range of equipment to suit all levels of the game, from Grass Roots Football to the Premier League.'

Please note- an administrative error saw us announce two incorrect winners earlier. This has been corrected, but our apologies. That's what happens when you try to read an Excel spreadsheet on a PC which doesn't run Microsoft software!
