Addicks back new academy

Faversham Town and Charlton Athletic are teaming up to launch a new academy at the Ryman South club's Salters Lane next season.

Aimed at talented players aged 16 to 18 and run in conjunction with the Charlton Athletic Community Trust, the academy's two year educational programme will be managed and delivered by Soccer Coaching Limited, one of the UK’s leading independent providers of education through sport.

Trials are now being organised for next year's inaugural intake who will study for a Diploma in Sport, delivered at Level 2 and 3 standard to be A-Level equivalent. They'll also work towards FA coaching qualifications together with core skills in Maths and English. On the pitch, students will compete in the Youth Conference and British College League on a weekly basis.

The Lilywhites say the new academy could end up catering for up to forty students in two age groups when open and are urging potential candidates to book their places at a series of trial dates that are set to be announced at the Shepherd Neame Stadium.
