Apology to fans after late wash-out

Hendon

Hendon officials have apologised to fans after their Monday night fourth versus fifth clash in the Ryman Premier against the Metropolitan Police was postponed less than an hour before kick off.

The top flight clash at Earlmead was set to go ahead following an afternoon inspection but was subsequently declared waterlogged by match officials at 7.10pm following further rain throughout the afternoon.

In a statement on their website, the Greens said: "Unfortunately, due to the continued rain this evening, tonight's match was postponed by the match referee at 7.10 pm. A new date for the game will be announced in due course.

"We apologise to anyone who had a fruitless journey this evening. With the pitch declared playable at 3pm, we had no option but to await the arrival of the match referee to make a final inspection and in the meantime the rainfall had made the pitch unplayable."
