Ware striker Albert Adu is leaving the Ryman League to score goals in the Faroe Islands for Havnar Bóltfelag.

Officials at Wodson Park announced on Monday that Adu has signed a one-year contract with the club, Faroe Islands League champions on 22 occasions and winners of 28 domestic cups.

Based in the capital Tórshavn, their season runs through the summer and Abu is now on his way to join them for pre-season training on the islands which are home to more than 50,000 people and situated about 200 miles north-north-west of Scotland and south of Iceland.

The forward, pictured, had made more than 50 appearances for the Ryman North club and is the second striker to leave Kem Kemal's squad in a week after Kieran Bishop's move to AFC Hornchurch.

Before his departure, the 26-year-old scored a superb individual goal and equaliser in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Chatham to take his final club total to 14 in the twelve months since his arrival from Broxbourne Borough.

A Blues spokesman said: "The club has now lost its top two scorers in the space of a week and there is no pretending that it is not a blow. But no-one has anything but the best wishes for Albert in his new quest at a club that has regularly featured in the Champions League and Europa League qualifying rounds."

Adu had previously played in the Spanish third division for CD Comarca De Nijar after leaving his native Holland where he'd turned out for FC Zeeburgia before moving on to KSV Roseleare of Belgium.
