Basildon United announce the return of Ellis Ashworth

Witham Town defender Ellis Ashworth, who joined the club in the summer, has returned from whence he came, rejoining his former club Basildon United. He has played three times for Witham this season.

Ellis played for a while in the USA, first coming to our attention when he joined Harlow Town on a dual-registration deal from Royston Town. He only made two appearances for the Hawks, but last season he became something of a North Division stalwart, playing seventeen times for Basildon.

He also apparently spent a brief time with East Thurrock United- although it must have been brief because we can't remember it- and turned out for Grays Athletic in pre-season last year.
