Invicta climb after second half goal blitz

Folkestone Invicta score three second half goals to end Bowers & Pitsea's resistance

In Pitching In Isthmian Premier last night, Folkestone Invicta welcomed Bowers & Pitsea. The hosts looked to be back to some semblance of their best in defeating Horsham three-nil on Saturday, and kicked on from that performance to record a comfortable win over their Essex visitors, three second half goals doing the damage.

Invicta took the lead from the spot just after the half hour, Ade Yusuff hammering in his eighteenth goal of the season. They were ahead for hardly any time at all, Jamal Allen with the equaliser. Bowers, who had been much improved of late with a win over Aveley and draw at Lewes, must have hoped they could capitalise on that- but all further goal action went the way of the hosts.

Shortly after the restart keeper Josh Blunkell was robbed of the ball by Josh Heard, and the Invicta number seven placed his shot into the back of an empty net. On sixty six minutes Ian Gayle was first to get to a Ronnie Dolan corner and made it three-one, and a few minutes later Ibrahim Olutade, who had only been on the field for six minutes, effectively ended the contest when he added a fourth.

Invicta climb to fourteenth, whilst Bowers remain fourth from bottom- now ten points behind their hosts.

County Cup matches finished as follows:

Basildon Town fell to defeat against Grays Athletic, the visitors winning three-one; whilst Witham Town deefated Stansted on penalties after a goalless draw.

Dulwich Hamlet defeated Cray Wanderers four-three, Kingstonian were three-one winners over Corinthian Casuals, whilst Burgess Hill Town warmed up for their Pitching In Isthmian South East match against Sittingbourne on Saturday- which we will be covering- by hammering Horsham YMCA six-one.

Whitehawk fell to a two-one defeat against Newhaven, whilst Uxbridge lost two-nil to St Panteleimon.
