Barnes Bolt

Ashford United welcome back Gus Barnes

Ashford United this morning announced the signing of Gus Barnes from Whitstable Town.

Gus was with the Nuts and Bolts as a youth (although at eighteen he still qualifies for that label), playing in green and white as an under sixteen. He moved to the Oysters, and made a breakthrough last season as a winger, although he can also play at full back.

He previously spent some time with Crystal Palace, and spent a considerable time out of the game after a nasty injury suffered playing in a Kent FA trial match.

Last season he managed twenty seven appearances for the Oysters, including two against his new club, finishing on the losing side both times. He scored one goal, against VCD Athletic in a draw last September.
