Paul Barnes time at the Hastings helm ends

Hastings United yesterday announced the departure of manager Paul Barnes.

In a statement, they explained:

'The club can confirm that First Team Manager Paul Barnes has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

The club would like to place on record its thanks to Paul for the work that he has carried out during his short spell as manager of Hastings United Football Club and wish him well in the future.

A further statement regarding the vacant management position will follow.'

Paul became the boss at the Pilot Field in May, two months after departing Dulwich Hamlet. His side started the season in fine form, undefeated in their first eight matches in League and Cup, But the last seven matches have seen six defeats, only a County Cup win over Three Bridges lighting the gloom.

He took the hot seat at Hamlet in mid October, following a month as interim boss. He was last a Pitching In Isthmian League boss with Staines Town, a role he left in January 2021.

He had previously been the manager of Greenwich Borough- he took over from Gary Alexander and steered the club to the South Division Playoff Semi-Finals- and has also worked at Dover, Ashford United and Guildford City.
