Canvey Island knew that they needed to win to have any realistic chance of taking the title from Aveley, who won on Good Friday, but they needed an own goal to put them ahead at relegation-threatened Great Wakering Rovers on thirty six minutes. The hosts hit back ten minutes from time, Jake Gordon equalising from the spot, and the Millers know that a win against Tilbury on Nonday will seal promotion. Rovers have opened up a five point gap on the bottom three.

Stowmarket Town, in third, are just trying to ensure a home play off slot, and they went ahead against another play off hopeful, Dereham Town, soon after the start of the second half-Evan Collard with the goal. The Magpies levelled with twelve minutes remaining, Ashton Fox with the equaliser, but it turned out to be futile as Craig Parker gave the hosts victory with four minutes remaining. Indeed, they even had time for a third, Luke Brown making it three-one right at the end.

We had a massive play off battle at Parkside as Grays Athletic welcomed Brentwood Town, and it was that man Tom Richardson who got the opener for the visitors- his thirty first of the season coming after twenty one minutes. Richardson had another just before the break, and in the closing stages Athletic made any chance of a comeback more difficult when James Smith saw red. That turned out to be that, and it was a disaster for Athletic, who dropped out of the top five with two games remaining.

The side replacing them in fifth is Felixstowe & Walton United. The Seasiders took the lead against Bury Town just before the break, Henry Barley delighting the home faithful, and that turned out to be the only goal of the game, putting them a point ahead of Grays with matches against Maldon & Tiptree and Coggeshall Town to come.

Basildon United really needed to win at Tilbury, and the Bees stung twice early on, Daniel McCullock and Nathan Fuma scoring on seven and nine minutes. Fahad Nyanja made it three midway through the first half, and the Dockers looked sunk, and before half an hour was up the score was four-nil, Kris Newby adding another as the visiting fans looked on in amazement. They were even more amazed when Dan Okah got number five on thirty eight minutes, and although Chris Millar got one back with twenty three minutes left and an own goal made it two-five with seven minutes left, but that was that- the Bees six points ahead of danger with two games left.

Witham Town were desperate for points following wins for Hullbridge Sports and particularly Barking yesterday, and they were soon ahead at AFC Sudbury, Adam Vyse with the opener. The yellows have nothing to play for but pride, but they drew level midway through the half through Marley Andrews, and then went ahead just after the half hour, Correy Davidson completing the turnaround. After the break Josh Stokes made it three-one, and although Josh Osude got one back in stoppage time there was no time for an equaliser. Town remain nineteenth, behind Barking in the relegation play off spot on goal difference and five points from safety.

Heybridge Swifts welcomed the Seed Growers of Coggeshall Town, and it was the visitors who planted the first goal past Callum Chafer, Alex Teniola asking what time it was after just twelve minutes. Callum Harrison doubled the away advantage after sixty four minutes, converting from the spot, and although Jack Adlington-Pile got one back with four minutes left that just spurred Coggeshall into life once more, and Jamal Balogun made it three-one right at the end.
