BetVictor Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2019/20: Cheshunt

By Ian Townsend

We stay in the Premier Division, and the world turns Amber.

We asked supporters of our BetVictor Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Cheshunt have hit the big time. Finley Chung is still celebrating last season’s heroics.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

An easy choice for any Cheshunt fan, the playoff final victory against Bracknell. We’d been up against it all first half, so when we scored in added time before half time, I thought “we couldn’t, could we” -and then scoring twice in 5 minutes after the restart confirmed it. Our fans were amazing that day and it’ll be a day the club treasures forever!

2. And your worst moment?

The 3-2 home loss to FC Romania (our tenants) stands out. We never really got going in the first 45, and it seemed like the minute we equalised, Romania would score instantly afterwards. A poor day at the office for sure!

3. How will you do this season?

If I’m being honest, I’m not too sure. It’ll be my first season reporting and watching the Premier Division so it’ll be good to get a good look at the teams in there! I think that if we can stay up, I’ll be happy but I’m sure our manager, Craig Edwards won’t just settle for safety!

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

An easy answer for me, Enfield Town. A local rivalry between the two sides means it’s always a great encounter. Potters Bar and Bishop’s Stortford too, all for the same reasoning!

5. What is your favourite away ground?

After last season I have a particular soft spot for Bracknell due to our performance there, but in general, Hertford Town’s ground is really nice! Good food, decent prices and a free programme on entry, what’s not to like?

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Enfield Town, for reasons of geography.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Get in early, we always have the early kick off on the tv in the bar beforehand, and get ready to make some noise, it’ll make for a fantastic atmosphere!

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Jason Hallett deserves an honourable mention, sticking around this season to try and break the club goal scoring record. Mark Hughes is also another huge fans favourite, coming up with some crucial goals last season too!

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

East Thurrock United, Haringey Borough, Kingstonian, Leatherhead, Worthing
