BetVictor Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2019/20: Bracknell Town

We stay South Central Division once more, and we’re giving it Larges in the Lane.

We asked supporters of our BetVictor Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Bracknell Town had a magnificent debut season in the South Central Division, but fell at the final hurdle. Will they go one better? Phil Wright thinks they might.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Bracknell had a tremendous campaign last season, especially as a newly promoted side, so it’s difficult to mention one particular moment. Two memories that do stand out are beating Marlow away- that was a pinnacle point in our successful season- and the widely publicised amazing own goal that Tooting and Mitcham scored at our place.

2. And your worst moment?

The passing of a friend and member of the Robins family, lifelong devotee to Non League football Darrell Freeland.

3. How will you do this season?

I expect Bracknell to have a similar season to last and be pushing for promotion either in an automatic position or a high play off positions by the end of the season.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Chertsey Town away. I haven’t been to there for many years, I remember it being a great set up, just off the high street with so many places for a beer beforehand. I’m also looking forward to visiting Staines Town as it’s a new ground for me.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

There are some amazing facilities in this division so it’s hard to pick just one favourite. I particularly enjoyed visiting Tooting and Mitcham, the Jamaican BBQ jerk chicken was quite possibly the best food I have ever had the pleasure of devouring at a football match. I also really enjoyed visiting Bedfont Sports, they have a 3G set up like The Robins but the facilities in the club house etc. are second to none, so it’s a great match day experience for an away supporter.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

It used to be Ascot United (The Yellow men) but we left them behind many seasons ago. So we don’t really have a great rivalry now with anyone, we are a very likeable bunch 

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

If possible try to travel by public transport as parking around Larges Lane isn’t great- and bring an umbrella in case it rains we don’t have much cover (although that situation is improving).

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Another difficult question to answer. For me The Robins have had many excellent players over the years, I think that can be proven with just how many move on to immediately play at a higher level.

My Favourites would be:

Sam Barrett - such a marvel to watch it was obvious he was bound for such better things- and now he’s playing at Southend United and I’m sure destined for even dizzier heights.

Carl Davies - A true Robin through and through, truly devoted to the club , always spent time to speak with the fans at all levels on many different platforms. Was a player manager for a while and very successful also.

Shane Cooper Clark - His goal scoring ratio and record speaks for itself, I’ve had many moments of joy seeing him strike the back of the net. Now back in a Robins shirt again, so hoping he can produce some of the wonder goals we’ve seen over the years.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Harlow Town, Bracknell Town, Tooting & Mitcham United, Staines Town, Waltham Abbey
