BetVictor Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2019/20: Hanwell Town

We’re staying South Central, and it’s time just to admire the grass. We’re off to Hanwell Town.

We asked supporters of our BetVictor Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Elsa Jones would like to introduce you to Hanwell Town. Although given the size of the scoreboard, you can probably see it from space!

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Hanwell Town captain Elsa Jones celebrates winning the FA Cup!

Hanwell Town captain Elsa Jones celebrates winning the FA Cup!

My favourite moment of last season was probably our FA Cup game against Lowestoft, Harvey Killeen scored quite late on to get us the joint furthest we’ve ever got in the competition!

2. And your worst moment?

The 9-1 defeat to Hayes and Yeading was pretty bad, but the worst moment of my season was losing to Leatherhead- they came down to us for a replay on a Tuesday night after the victory was snatched away from us when we visited them on the previous Saturday. It was 0-0 after full time and extra time, we went on to lose on penalties, but although the initial feeling was disappointment, I was very proud of the club.

3. How will you do this season?

We’re aiming high, we have managed to keep most of our squad together and strengthen it!

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

I am most looking forward to visiting the new grounds, so Chertsey, Staines, Harlow and Barking, as I collect the pin badges. I am also looking forward to visiting Bedfont Sports again, as I like to sit on the balcony in the boardroom and watch the match from there.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

My favourite non-league ground ever is probably AFC Rushden and Diamonds, because it has great character. I do like the modern clubs with all the great facilities, but they have no character and look boring inside.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Uxbridge are probably our biggest rivals, purely because they are the closest and they have been in the league with us for a long time. Last season they beat us twice, once in the league and once in the cup, and we beat them once, with a last gasp winner!

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Hanwell Town is very easy to get to by car, we are just off the A40, and with our digital advertising board, you can’t miss us!! By train, Hanwell is a 7 minute walk from Perivale train station, and a bus ride away from Ealing Broadway which is on the district, central, TFL rail and GWR. The 297 and E5 buses stop right outside!

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Instead of my favourite player at Hanwell, I am going to write about my favourite ever person at Hanwell...Mr Bob Fisher, aka Mr Hanwell Town. Bob is our chairman and the best person I have ever met, his dedication to Hanwell is immense. Our main stand is named after Bob, because he is the main man! Everyone who knows Bob knows he is Hanwell Town.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Harlow Town, Bracknell Town, Barking, Marlow, Westfield

Right, you've read Elsa’s views, and if you'd like to represent your Step Four club, then hurry, as the cut off for entries is Wednesday! Please send an email to townsendaround@gmail.com and we shall see what we can do!
