BetVictor Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2019/20: Burgess Hill Town

Into the South East we go, and we’re taking a trip to Burgess Hill Town- which, if you’re travelling by train, is at Wivelsfield!

We asked supporters of our BetVictor Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Jack Naldrett didn’t have as much fun last season as he would have liked. He’s confident that the forthcoming campaign will be better for his Burgess Hill Town!

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

I would have to say there were two standout moments for me last season, the away wins at Margate and Lewes. Heading down to Margate on a cold November afternoon having not won away all season we weren’t overly optimistic- and we were even less so after being 2-0 down, but we managed to turn it around and complete a fantastic comeback. Another fine away victory was Lewes. New Year’s Day, a Dripping Pan full of Hillians and a resounding 3-0 win to extend our brilliant unbeaten run over the Rooks which dates back to the 90s!

2. And your worst moment?

From the highs of Lewes away, to the lows of Lewes at home. Although we didn’t lose, Lewes equalised in the dying minutes to essentially relegate us. A truly horrible feeling I don’t want to experience again.

3. How will you do this season?

The million-dollar question! Absolutely anything could happen with us this season. I personally think we will just sneak into the play offs and I would be content with that, but obviously I would love us to win the league!

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

The Sussex derbies are always great fun, and we have some new ones this season which will be good. Whitehawk away is always a great day out, and of course playing our nearest rivals Haywards Heath is very exciting.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

I haven’t been to many of the grounds in this division as yet, but one I have been to which I like is Hythe Town. Very nice food and drink there as well. Lovely place.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Haywards Heath Town. They are our nearest rivals in terms of distance (4 miles between the 2 grounds) and the fact we have them away 2nd game of the season is extremely exciting- and a game I’m very much looking forward to.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

I say it to everyone that comes down, don’t get a train to Burgess Hill, get a train to Wivelsfield! Only a 2 minute walk whereas it’s a good 25 minute walk from Burgess Hill.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Super Pat Harding. An absolute Burgess Hill legend, scored some of the best goals I’ve seen live and a truly wonderful guy off the pitch too! This season should see Pat hit the 400 appearances mark for us and he’s scored 119 goals to go with them. Like a very fine wine is our Super Pat!

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Hastings United, Ashford United, Ramsgate, Whitehawk, Burgess Hill Town

Right, you've read Jack’s views, and if you'd like to represent your Step Four club, then hurry, as the cut off for entries is Wednesday! Please send an email to townsendaround@gmail.com and we shall see what we can do!
