BetVictor Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2019/20: Cray Valley PM

We’re going South East, to visit those FA Vase Finalists of Cray Valley PM

We asked supporters of our BetVictor Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Richard Green brings you words from the Valley of Cray, and its Mills of Paper.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Supporters and players will no doubt look at an unbelievable day out at Wembley Stadium in the FA Vase Final in May, while Officials and those long serving folk at the Club will treasure victory at Canterbury City in the last game of last season; a win which secured the SCEFL Championship and Step 4 football for The Millers for the first time in their 100 year history.

2. And your worst moment?

Defeat at Hollands & Blair late in the season which, at the time, appeared to derail our promotion push after an epic tussle with Corinthian FC.

3. How will you do this season?

I'm looking for a very positive season as the experience and confidence gained from a successful Championship challenge, and run to a Wembley Final, takes the players on to another level.

Summer signings look to have further strengthened the side, so hopefully we’ll have a push for the Play Off places come April.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

It's difficult to highlight any specific matches next season, although mouth-watering local derbies against Phoenix Sports and VCD, along with a trip to Guernsey, will be much anticipated.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Phoenix Sports, where a warm welcome is always forthcoming.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Being new to the League we have no specific rivals, although individual players may disagree with this.
We will treat all opponents with the respect they deserve.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Beware - it's very easy to miss your exit on the McDonalds roundabout next to the ground.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

It has to be veteran goalkeeper and Captain Andy Walker.

A larger than life character, Walks can clearly be heard barking out orders to his players, or sharing banter with supporters behind his goal. If anyone epitomises what Cray Valley PM is about, it has to be Walks.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Ashford United, Burgess Hill Town, Hastings United, Hythe Town, Cray Valley PM

Right, you've read Richard’s views, do you want to be next? If you'd like to represent your club, then please send an email to townsendaround@gmail.com and we shall see what we can do!
