Blues "indebted" to departed Flanagan and Dafter

Brentwood Town's officials have paid tribute to former joint managers Adam Flanagan and Danny Dafter for leading them into the Ryman League's top flight.

Flanagan left the Blues last week in the wake of their victory over Thurrock in the Ryman North play-off final, pictured, to take over at Conference South Concord Rangers. His playing partner Dafter announced his retirement from football after a decade of involvement at the Essex club on Monday.

Officials, who say they've have been "inundated" with applications to replace the duo who guided the club to a fourth place finish before masterminding their play-off success, said: "Brentwood Town FC are indebted to these two young managers who took on a difficult job and achieved well beyond expectations.

"Charged with the emphasis of promoting local youth, the joint managers took on that challenge and there were very high percentages of local youth and ex-youth players regularly featuring and later dominating the team sheet.

"Under the guidance of the joint managers, this young squad flourished and, despite a slight dip in form in the closing weeks of the season, raised their game in the 5–0 second half win against Thurrock last weekend.

"All at Brentwood Town FC wish Adam success at Concord and Danny a satisfying “retirement” from the game – although we all expect he will return to his passion at some stage."

"The club have been inundated with interest for the vacant manager’s post and remain open-minded at present."
