Ryman North AFC Sudbury are looking forward to seeing football played seven days a week at their home next season after being granted planning permission to install the latest artificial turf surface.

The Yellows are investing approximately £350,000 in the latest 3G pitch and announced on Tuesday that installation work will start at their The Wardale Williams Stadium, pictured, on June 1 after getting the green light from their local authority.

The project is expected to be completed within eight to nine weeks in time for the new season but will rule out AFC Sudbury hosting a pre-season friendlies programme.

A contingency plan has also been put in place by the club in the event of any unexpected delays for construction partners Velocity Ltd.

According to AFC Sudbury director Richard Instance, the new pitch is a way of expanding the club while investing the the town of Sudbury as a whole with plans already being put in place to start hosting 'walking football' for the overs 50s, more youth teams and five-a-side football.

Calling getting the go-ahead great news for everyone connected the club and local community, Instance said: "We have now been granted full planning consent for the installation of a 3G pitch at The Wardale Williams Stadium.

"This is a really exciting time for the club. The installation of the 3G pitch will not only provide a great playing surface for our teams but will provide an opportunity for the club to expand its commercial and community activities."

To maximise expected revenues from their new 3G facility, the Yellows are hiring the pitch at full, half and quarter sizes after a number of local organisations took out block bookings for future use.
