Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Leatherhead

Connor gives you a guided tour of Fetcham Grove. And hopes to be King (of) Mole (Valley).

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Connor Moreton gives you a tour of Fetcham Grove, and explains that Billericay’s ground would be fabulous if it didn’t have Billericay in it!

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

My best moment last season, the same as for many other fans I’m sure, was Billericay away in the FA Cup. So many factors made this a great night for fans watching there and on TV. Who wouldn’t love beating a team who went into the game with such arrogance, only to be over turned by such a solid performance- and thanks to the BBC it can be watched over and over again. A special mention goes to Wycombe away, due to the unbelievable aptmoshphere and sheer volume of away fans.

2. And your worst moment?

The worst moment for me last year has got to be Merstham in the Surrey Senior Cup Final, mainly because of the way the team performed throughout the game. It was almost like the whole team knew their fate before the game, they showed no fight at all- and knowing what happened to the squad since, that would make sense. The game was over before kick off.

It was made worst when you consider how well the team performed in the season prior to the final, yet they came away empty handed at seasons close.

3. How will you do this season?

I think this year we are going to need a flying start as many teams around us have spent wisely. I’m not saying our additions aren’t good enough, I just believe we have to send a statement straight away to show that we mean business and have improved from last year. So I think we will end up in the playoffs this year; and why not, even promotion.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

There are a few new clubs this year. I’m looking forward to Bognor and Margate for the day out, Whitehawk to see how our ex player Yannis is getting on down there- especially after the controversy around his eligibility which most Tanners fans will know about- and of course Dorking/Kingstonian for the rivalry between the clubs, which will mean more this year as a few ex Tanners have joined the outfits that have had a lot of money chucked at them.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

My favourite away ground by a long shot is Billericay, even though I don’t like the club I have to admit the setup is very impressive and advanced for non league level. It’s just a shame they got promoted last year meaning no more great memories can be made again this year unless we draw them in the cup again.

Another ground I am looking forward going to is Dorking’s brand new Meadowbank as it looks very plush. It would be even better if we could win the Mole Valley derby there as well.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Dorking. I think that due to the money they have spent on players, the new ground etc they will be heavily in the running to go on and win the league- so we will have to bring our A game to keep up with them.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

I would say if you love to watch good quality football alongside fans that really do care about their club, you’ll enjoy your visit. Fetcham Grove is easily accessible by train or car, with the town centre a quick 5 minute walk away from the ground, which is down by the riverside. I believe there really is no other ground like it in terms of location.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

If you ask any true Tanners fan who their favourite player is I would bet my life savings on them saying the one and only Jerry Nnamani. He makes Arnold Schwarzenegger look like a twig, he’s been at the club since 2011, and if I’m correct he’s got 350 odd Tanners appearances under his belt. He’s a LEGEND.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Folkestone Invicta, Dorking Wanderers, Leatherhead, Bognor Regis Town, Margate
