Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Whitehawk

Whether at the top of the slope or the bottom, Whitehawk fans are sure to have a few key moments this season. Dean Lawrence leads the community singing.

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Dean Lawrence shows us around the Enclosed Ground, home of Whitehawk. That isn’t half the world away from Brighton, by the way.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Dean of Whitehawk

Dean of Whitehawk

New Years Day, when we beat our rivals Eastbourne Borough 4-1 at their own ground! It was all the more sweet after only picking up 4 points by that stage of the season. It really was the turning point and we almost avoided relegation in the second half of the season.

2. And your worst moment?

Seeing the player’s faces when we finally got relegated, they put up a real good fight. Most of those players are at Welling now with our old manager Steve King. It will be interesting to see how they get on this season.

3. How will you do this season?

A couple of additions to the squad and we could be right up there, I think I speak for all the Hawks Ultras when I say we look forward to the season with optimism. Also how happy we are to have the three Marsh-Brown brothers here!

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

We have some more local derbies now, which are always a good laugh. Plus we play a lot more London based teams, really looking forward to the away days and welcoming new fans to the Enclosed ground.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

The Dripping Pan (Lewes FC) has real character and banging grub. For comfort and style it has to be Woodside Road (Worthing FC) they even have a screen indoors showing the game for those fair-weather fans who don’t fancy the terraces!

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Bognor Regis – They feature in a number of our chants, there is a long standing rivalry and mutual banter. Eastbourne Borough are our rivals as well, however unlike Bognor they were not kind enough to get relegated with us last season.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Bring your friends- dogs and kids are welcome too. We are an inclusive family club, you will all be welcomed here and you’ll see the vibe of the place is about respect, tolerance and of course having fun. We believe our club should be the heart of the community.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?
It’s close, Sergio Torres comes in second but it has to be Danny Mills. We had just been promoted when he joined us in November 2012, his goals helped us to the Isthmian Premier title in his first season at the Enclosed Ground. He established himself as one of the leading goal scorers in the Conference South and by March 2017, Danny scored his 100th goal for our club.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?
Folkestone Invicta, Margate, Whitehawk, Lewes, Leatherhead
