Bostik Supporters Preview 17/18: Billericay Town

We head to the home of the bookmakers title favourites (but not necessarily yours- find out on Friday!) Billericay Town, to hear the thoughts of Daniel Baquero.

We asked a supporter from each of our member clubs to answer the same series of questions as part of our preview of the new season. We also asked them to predict how their particular division would finish, from one to 24- and their answers will be revealed in a collection of Supporters Prediction Tables to be released the day before the big kick off.

Here are the answers of Daniel Baquero, representing Billericay Town.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Favorite moment of last season was, perhaps unsurprisingly, Jamie O’Hara’s bicycle kick against Enfield on 08th April. I’ve seen few better than that at New Lodge. A close second was the last-minute winner in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup against Chippenham Town.

2. And what was the worst moment?

Losing away to Grays in February within the last few seconds. From that point it felt like any chance of reaching the playoffs was pretty much gone.

3. How will you do this season?

Promotion has to be the target this season. With the kind of players being brought in, anything else will be seen as a failure. That being said, I’m not expecting this season to be easy; there are plenty of good sides in the Bostik Premier and I would expect the likes of Dulwich, Enfield and Margate to be at the top end of the table come the end of the season.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to- and why?

I’m looking forward to the season opener against Kingstonian as it will be fantastic to see Craig Edwards back in Billericay and he is sure to get a great reception from all Billericay supporters. I’m also looking forward to visiting Dorking’s new stadium in November for the first fixture at their new home.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

My favourite away ground will always be Hartsdown Park (Margate), purely for the memories from when Town won promotion there in 2012.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

I would consider to be Enfield to be our biggest rivals in the Bostik. Fixtures between the two clubs tend to be fiery encounters and make for a great game of football, with a fantastic atmosphere in the stands.

7. What advice would you give to an away supporter visiting you for the first time?

With the newly named AGP arena being pretty much a completely new stadium, I would advise visiting fans to enjoy the new facilities (in particular Mark Gevaux’s ribs!!) and get involved with the friendly banter across the terraces.

8. Who is your favourite player (for your club) of all time- and why?

Favorite player of all time would have to be Doug Young. How many people can say they’ve scored a hat-trick at Wembley in a cup final? The fact that he did so for our little club will always stand him as a club legend.

9. Finally, predict who will fill the top five positions at the end of the forthcoming season:

Billericay Town, Dulwich Hamlet, Enfield Town, Margate, Leiston.

Where next?
