Brewers win Ferguson race

Burton Albion have won the race to sign Nathan Ferguson from Ryman Premier Grays Athletic.

The League One high-flyers beat off competition from a number of clubs including Fleetwood Town for the former Dagenham & Redbridge youngster.

The 20-year-old, pictured with his parents at St George’s Park on Wednesday following a week long trial with the Brewers, has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal after making 11 appearances for the Blues this season.

He told the Brewers website: “I came in for a week to train and I really liked the atmosphere and all the lads made me feel very welcome. I was very keen to come here and work with the squad at Burton.”

The box-to-box midfielder could go down as being Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's final signing for Albion, with the former Chelsea star currently in talks over the managerial vacancy at Queens Park Rangers.
