Brickies go into partnership with their neighbours

Sittingbourne and Borden Village FC announce a formal link-up

Sittingbourne have announced that their latest football partnership is with a side a little closer to home than usual! Following their link up with Danish side Fremad Amager, which we told you about here, their latest venture sees them align with another Sittingbourne side, Borden Village FC, who play in the Kent County Football League.

A statement on the Brickies website explains:

'The two club committees have been discussing the tie-up for some time, and following changes at Borden Village the time was now right to join forces. The tie-up has begun with Sittingbourne FC helping Borden finalise a strong management team that will now include names familiar to stalwart Brickies fans.'

Those names are former Brickies, Tonbridge Angels, Worthing and Greenwich Borough player Kevin Brown, who comes in as manager, and, as coach, former Sittingbourne and Hastings United man Simon Beard.

The statement continues:

'There was already a link between the two clubs through committee members of both clubs, Roger Pudner (who is also the groundsman for both clubs), and Ian Jackson.

Sittingbourne manager Darren Blackburn will have an overseeing role over teams of both clubs and for Sittingbourne the interchange of players that this link up makes possible will prove invaluable. These are exciting times for Sittingbourne football. '
