Faversham Town's officials have thanked Sittingbourne's fans, players and officials for holding a collection for their keeper Simon Overland who broke his arm in their 3-0 Christmas home win over the Brickies in Ryman South.

The title-chasing Lilywhites have lost the services of the stopper for the rest of the season after it was confirmed earlier this week that he'd broken his tibia in a nasty collision in the 12th minute of the Christmas Saturday victory on 27 December.

His break is expected to take eight to 12 weeks to heal before can start rehab, effectively ruling him out until next term.

The 28-year-old is a self-employed football coach and university student and officials announced earlier this week that a collection for the stricken keeper is also being held at Salters Lane when they host Whitstable Town on Saturday 24 January.

Club secretary Wendy Walker said: "Faversham Town would like to send our thanks to everyone at Sittingbourne after they generously held a collection for Simon.

"It was a very nice gesture and Faversham's directors would like to thank all the supporters, players, officials and directors at Sittingbourne for their generosity and thoughtfulness for our player."

"Everyone at the club is wishing Simon a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing him back in action when he fully recovers."
