Bridge and Sparks have to be content with a point

By Ian Townsend

One Pitching In South Central match survived the weather- and it delivered four goals

Uxbridge, five games without a win, welcomed a South Park Reigate side who knew that victory could take them level on points with fifth place Chertsey Town- but both sides had to settle for a point as the Sparks twice came from behind to salvage a draw.

The Honeycroft faithful were given something to cheer just before the half hour, Joe Jackson steppin' out to curl the ball home from the edge of the box for the hosts. Nine minutes after the break Abel Vendrells delivered a Sparks equaliser, only for Alex Witham to restore home advantage with only eighteen minutes left. Parity was quickly restored, however, substitute Ben Jordan equalising for the visitors only four minutes later- and that was that.

Much of the praise was reserved for the fabulous groundstaff at Honeycroft on a night which saw postponements across the league. Isthmian Vice-Chair Craig Johnson summed up the comments on social media, stating:

"Full credit to the Uxbridge groundstaff for producing a great surface despite the weather over the past few days."

That's Craig's image, above- and he's entirely right.

Uxbridge end the night in twelfth place, seven points clear of the bottom four and ten behind their visitors.
