Chats and Hawks slay giants!

Whilst away from the Velocity Cup, Golds hit Hoops for five. It was a big night for sides in Pitching In Isthmian South East

Pitching In Isthmian South East promotion chasers Chatham Town and Whitehawk had what looked to be tough tasks in the Velocity Cup last night, as the Chats welcomed one of the Premier Division's form sides, Carshalton Athletic, whilst the Hawks travelled to Margate. However both sides pulled off a shock win, and the Chats delivered a massacre!

Athletic headed to Kent on the back of a seven match unbeaten run, but put out a much- much- changed side for this Quarter Final. Five of the starting eleven were making their debut, and their three second half substitutes were also debutants, which to some extent may explain the outcome- but let's not take the gloss away from the Chats performance. Emmanuel Oloyede gave them a ninth minute lead, and on twenty minutes Jack Evans eleventh of the season doubled the home tally. Evans soon added another, and then ten minutes from time Dan Bradshaw added the fourth. Evans completed his hat trick from the spot four minutes from time.

Margate have gone six matches without a win in the league, but were quickly ahead against the Hawks, player-boss Ben Greenhalgh opening the scoring after just two minutes. On twenty minutes Greenhalgh added a second, and although Nathan Cooper pulled a goal back just after the half hour the last fifteen minutes of the match arrived with the hosts still in control. At that point, however, the Hawks hit the fast forward button. Charlie Lambert equalised with eleven minutes remaining, and one minute from time Luke Robinson put them ahead. Into the last minute and new signing Alfie Rogers added a fourth, and although there was still time for an own goal to give Gate a third, that was that. The Hawks have now knocked three Premier Division sides out of the competition, Margate joining Horsham and Hastings United on that list.

Back in Pitching In Isthmian South East, Littlehampton Town climbed to eighth place with a hammering of relegation-threatened Corinthian. The Golds were ahead after just six minutes, Jordan Clark opening the scoring. Exactly ten minutes later Dave Herbert made it two, and exactly ten minutes after that Herbert added another.

The goals then stopped until the closing stages, Scott Faber adding a fourth five minutes from time before George Gaskin got number five right at the end. Deep in added time Corinthian got one back, Oliver Box with the goal, but it can't have been much of a consolation.
