Can Bay go third?

By Ian Townsend

Win at Faversham Town tonight and the Pitching In Isthmian South East play off picture will change once more

Herne Bay have a big chance to jump as high as third place in the Pitching In Isthmian South East table tonight, as they play their game in hand over the four sides above them at Faversham Town.

Bay have got back to form of late, with three wins from their last four, and hit Lancing for six on Saturday. With striker Zak Ansah's hat trick taking him to twenty for the season, and number seven Rory Smith scoring his fourth in three matches, Bay will hit the road confident they can breach the Lilywhites rearguard.

Faversham need the points for entirely different reasons. Town have slipped to within two points of trouble, albeit with games in hand over the sides around them. A win tonight would take them up to thirteenth and give them a little breathing space, whilst defeat will give hope to East Grinstead Town, Lancing and Sevenoaks Town, who are breathing down their necks. The Lilywhites have only two wins- and seven defeats- from their last ten, and have lost their last three. When last the sides met, only ten days ago, Bay triumphed by two goals to nil.
