Can the Green Lions set a fire under the Sparks?

By Ian Townsend

We’ve only one match in the Pitching In Isthmian South Central tonight. Here’s our preview.

Guernsey have opened up a six point gap on the danger zone, and have two games in hand over all but one of the sides below them- but the Green Lions have conceded six goals without scoring in their last two matches, so won’t count themselves as safe yet. They won’t have far to travel when they arrive at Gatwick Airport this evening, as they’ll be making only the short hop to Reigate to face South Park.

The Sparks have no relegation worries and are in fine form, with only two defeats from their last ten, and comfortable in the ninth place they’ve occupied for almost all of their last eighteen matches. This will be the first meeting between the two this season, but South Park have a fine record against their Channel Islands opponents, winning their last five meetings and seven out of their last nine, all of which came in our old South Division. The only victory for the Green Lions came just over seven years ago, when they annihilated their hosts at Whitehall Lane, winning seven-one. Ross Allen scored four of those goals, and the striker has eighteen goals from twenty six matches so far this season.
