Can the Hawks put daylight between themselves and the drop zone?

By Ian Townsend

We’ve one match in the Pitching In Isthmian South East Division tonight, but it’s an important one, particularly if you’re a Hawk!

Whitehawk haven’t had the best of seasons, and find themselves only two points ahead of third bottom East Grinstead Town- but they have a game in hand, and will hope to use it wisely, as they welcome Faversham Town tonight.

The Hawks problem of late hasn’t been that they are losing matches, indeed they’ve lost only three of their last ten- it’s that they aren’t winning them. Five of that ten have ended level, and they’ve drawn ten times this season- more than any other side apart from Three Bridges. They saw a three game unbeaten run come to an end against relegation rivals Sevenoaks Town at the weekend.

Their opponents have suddenly found form, perhaps at just the right time, and have opened up a six point gap over the bottom three. The Lilywhites have won their last two, and defeated two in-form sides in doing so, Three Bridges and Herne Bay.

When the two last met, on 23rd October, a Joe Denny goal for Town was the difference between the two sides.
