Can the Tanners hit the summit?

By Ian Townsend

We’ve three Pitching In Isthmian South Central matches tonight, with the Tanners, Villains and Tangerines in the role of hosts

Leatherhead find themselves two points behind leaders Raynes Park Vale with a game in hand- and that game in hand arrives tonight, as Northwood head to Fetcham Grove. The Tanners got back to winning ways on Saturday, as they blighted the opening of the new pitch at Uxbridge by winning three-one; whilst the Woods are on a terrible run, having lost their last seven matches- and are without a league victory since August Bank Holiday Monday.

We’ve a mid table battle as Hanworth Villa welcome Hartley Wintney. The visitors are only three points away from the top five, and have won three of their last four in the league- scoring five at Binfield on Saturday- but they’d need quite a big victory to crash into the play off places tonight. The Villains are unlikely to allow that, as they are in fine form, their only defeat in their last six matches coming against Premier Division Horsham in the Cup. A home win will see them climb to seventh.

Ashford Town play host to Ascot United, as Tangerine takes on Yellow (well, Yella). Town haven’t really found any consistency yet this season, but they have won two of their last three and have occasionally been very good indeed. You could say very much the same about United, who have won only one of their last seven in all competitions, putting to an end a fine start to the campaign. With striker Brendan Matthew already on fourteen goals for the season their problems aren’t up front- they’ve got eight matches without a clean sheet, something which they’ll be desperate to put right tonight.

Kick off is at 7.45 PM in all fixtures.
