Charity begins at...your local football club

By Ian Townsend

A number of our clubs are asking for help to deal with costs during their enforced absence. And our supporters are answering their call.

We are living in unprecedented times, and for many of us money is in short supply. And yet a significant number of our supporters have been dipping into their pockets to help their local football club, who- of course- have no income whatsoever during this period. We thought we'd give you a rundown of the appeals being run by our clubs, just in case you'd missed them and want to donate.

In the Premier Division, Folkestone Invicta's Supporters Club set up an appeal with a five thousand pound target, and have already raised the vast majority of that. Their appeal site is here.

Merstham are trying to raise £3000, and at the time of writing had made just over a third of that. Their fund raising site can be found here.

Leatherhead had raised almost fifteen hundred pounds a fortnight ago, and that's probably gone up since then. You can find out how to donate here.

Into the North Division, Cambridge City were up to fifteen hundred pounds a week ago. You can donate by Paypal, bank transfer or cheque, and you can find out how to do that here.

South Central side South Park have even had donations from supporters of former FA Trophy opponents Tranmere Rovers, and are over a third of the way towards their target. Find out more here.

Tooting and Mitcham United have decided that donations come with prizes. Head here to find out more.

Finally, the South East Division. Ashford United have set a rather ambitious target and have raised just over a thousand pounds so far, and you can add to that by heading here.

Whyteleafe have already raised just over four thousand pounds thanks to their generous supporters, and you can add to that by heading here.

Cray Valley PM have just announced their fundraising campaign, and you can get a 'free' programme reviewing the season if you donate more than seven quid. See more here.

Sittingbourne FC are giving a free match ticket to local NHS staff for every one hundred pounds raised, and so far they'll have to donate thirty four tickets. Their total includes three hundred and fifty pounds from Denmark- and you can read more about that later this week! Head here if you can help.

Faversham Town have raised more than twelve hundred pounds of their three thousand pound target. Head here to help.

Ramsgate have so far raised around two and a half thousand pounds. You can help the Rams butt their way through the crisis by donating here.

Finally, the Herne Bay Supporters Association have so far raised more than fifteen hundred pounds for their club. You can add to that by heading here.

Thanks to all who have donated. If your club is also running an appeal and it isn't mentioned here, please email Ian so that it can be added.
