Chris Casement steps up for Stow

By Ian Townsend

After spending even longer looking for a manager than Leeds United, Stowmarket Town find that they had one under their noses all the time

Stowmarket Town last night announced that Chris Casement had been appointed as their new player/manager.

Defender Chris has been with the club for two and a half years, a big part of their promotion to our ranks and their progression to the play off's last season. His career has mainly been played at a level much higher than ours, however. He came through the youth setup at Ipswich Town before turning out for the first team, and went on to play for the likes of Wycombe Wanderers and Dundee before returning to his native Northern Ireland where he became something of a legend with Linfield and Portsdown. He also has international experience, playing for his country at Under 21, B and senior level.

He has a great deal of coaching experience, and is currently coaching the Under 16's for his country and working with Academy players at Ipswich Town.

He has made twenty eight appearances so far this season.
