Cray collect three precious points

By Peter Butcher

TWO goals in five first-half minutes earned Cray a 2-0 win at Bury tonight (Wednesday) and makes it very likely that the two clubs will meet in the Ryman Premier again next season.

Although Bury started the day in eighth place with Cray 18th, both sides have shown much better form away from home so the result could hardly be described as a shock.

Leigh Bremner (pictured) put Cray ahead with a 31st-minute penalty and Jack Clark quickly added the second. Bury suffered a further blow soon after the interval when Tom Bullard conceded a penalty and was sent off, although Marcus Garnham saved the kick.

So Bury remain seven points behind fifth-placed Canvey, having used up their game in hand, while Cray climb to 16th, ten points clear of the relegation zone.
