Havant plays host as Horndean take on Sheppey United

We have some Thursday night South East entertainment tonight, as Horndean take their home match on the road to Havant and Waterlooville, with Sheppey United making the trip- either by train to Havant, or along the A27.

Thirteenth v eighth, there are six points between the hosts and their visitors, and both are safe from any involvement in any end of season shenanigans at either end of the table, so this one is mainly for pride- but we’ve seen no shortage of that from either side. The Deans have had a fine first season at our level, and come into this one having suffered only one defeat in their last six- at promotion-chasing Sittingbourne. They were in action as recently as Tuesday evening, when they were involved in a thrilling four-four draw against Phoenix Sports, a match which saw them two-nil and three-two up and then, somehow, four-three down before they hit back to take a point.

The travelling Ites were walloped four-two at Beckenham Town on Tuesday night, so will want to put that defeat quickly behind them, as they had won their previous two matches- although that is six defeats from eight, which is how they’ve ended up eighteen points away from the top five. United will also be looking for some revenge for the three-two defeat they suffered against the Deans at Holm Park in mid October.

Kick off is at 7.45 PM.
