Defeat seals Denly's departure

Hythe Town have announced the resignation of manager Sam Denly, following last night's Velocity Trophy hammering at the hands of Faversham Town.

Denly took over at Reachfields at the start of 2018, and steered the side to within a hairs breadth of a Playoff spot in 2017-18. Last season they finished in seventh place.

Speaking in the summer, Denly spoke of his confidence that Hythe could challenge for a Playoff place this season, but a few days later the Cannons were demolished seven-two by Burgess Hill Town. They followed that result with victory over Whitstable Town, but since then they have lost four times; a five-nil defeat to Cray Wanderers in the FA Cup, single goal defeats to Faversham and Whitehawk in the League, and last night's seven-one massacre at Faversham turned out to be the last straw for their manager.

The club have wasted no time inviting applications for the now-vacant position.

Those wishing to be considered for the vacancy should forward their names in confidence to the Secretary by e-mail at martinandsuegiles@gmail.com by 10pm on Friday September 6th. Shortlisted applicants will then be advised on Saturday and should then be able to attend an interview process at a designated local place and time on Sunday September 8th 2019.
