Double debutants for Hill

Dave Martin and George Griffiths debut for Burgess Hill Town in midweek defeat

Burgess Hill Town had two new names on their teamsheets for their match with Cray Valley PM on Tuesday night, as Dave Martin and George Griffiths made their debuts.

Winger Dave spent last season earning promotion with Hastings United, before moving on to SCEFL side Phoenix Sports in the summer. He made thirty one appearances- and scored three goals- as United took the Pitching In Isthmian South East title.

Prior to his move to our level Dave had a fine professional career. He came through the youth setup at Brighton & Hove Albion and went on to play for Crystal Palace, Derby County, Millwall, Notts County, Southend United, Luton Town, Bristol Rovers and Stevenage. He spent time with Whitehawk during their National League South days, was back at the Hawks in a player/coach capacity a few years later when they were in our ranks, and went on to spend time with Margate before last season's successes at Pilot Field.

George Griffiths, a midfielder, we know less about. The Hill website tells us he has been studying and playing for Wimborne Town, who are in Pitching In Southern Division One South- but you can read more of that here.
