Eight from eight for the Trawler Boys

Felixstowe are on their heels, whilst in the Trophy Swifts and Stow slay giants, whilst Grays and Wroxham march on

Eight games, eight wins, and Lowestoft Town extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points with a comfortable win over Tilbury. The Trawler Boys have been superb, scoring an average of more than three goals a game whilst conceding only three in total coming into this match, and they were two up by the break, Travis Cole early on and Kyle Haylock seven minutes before half time. The scoreline didn’t change after the break, and four hundred and thirty eight watched on.

Felixstowe & Walton United remain unbeaten in the league. The Seasiders welcomed a side who had lost every match- Maldon & Tiptree- but who were under new management, Adam Flint taking over yesterday. The last time they met, in April, the Seasiders won five-one, and whilst this result wasn’t quite a hammering the hosts were two up by the break, Joshua Hitter and Billy Holland, and had a third on sixty six minutes, Joe Whight making quite sure of three points. Jake Giddings got one back but United are up to second.

Bury Town knew they would definitely move into the top five if they could defeat East Thurrock United, but the Rocks rocked Ram Meadow by opening the scoring on four minutes, Brian Moses doing the damage. That turned out to be the only goal, the hosts missing a spot kick, and the Rocks are up to thirteenth.

We expected Brentwood Town to be in and around the top five, and now they are, after victory over Basildon United. George Craddock opened the scoring on nine minutes, Tom Richardson made it two before the half hour, and the rest of the match produced no further goals.

Great Wakering Rovers welcomed Coggeshall Town, the Seed Growers still looking for their first league victory- but a goal from Freddie King twelve minutes before the break gave the visitors a half time advantage. Rovers were level just after the hour, Eusebio Da Silva with the equaliser- his fourth of the season- and eleven minutes later got a winner, Kewin Kwiek lifting them to twelfth.

Into the FA Trophy now.

Grays Athletic welcomed Faversham Town to Parkside, and neither side could find the net until the dreaded shootout, which the hosts won four-two.

Hayes & Yeading United hosted for New Salamis. Our North newcomers have shown some fine form this season, but we knew they would face a tough test at the Pitching In Southern Premier South promotion hopefuls and they fell behind after just eleven minutes. That turned out to be the only goal of the game.

Lincoln United, bottom of Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One East and without a league win, faced another side with a better cup record than league record, as our very own Wroxham made their way north. The Yachtsmen have been magnificent in the Trophy, defeating East Grinstead Town four-one and then scoring five against North Division leaders Lowestoft Town, and by half time they had two more, Shaun Taylor with both of them. It was three-nil six minutes after the restart, Ryan Curtis with that one, and although the hosts got one back that was that.

Potters Bar Town and Heybridge Swifts are both having fine campaigns, albeit a division apart. The Scholars, hosts for Swifts this weekend, are being kept off the top of the Pitching In Isthmian Premier only on goal difference and have two games in hand, such has been their form; whilst Swifts remain unbeaten in the North Division- and it was the visitors who were ahead by the break in this one, Jack Adlington-Pile with his fourth of the campaign on thirteen minutes. Try as they might the Scholars couldn’t level, with Swifts keeper Callum Chafer in fine form, and with seven minutes left Kieran Jones confirmed a fine win for the visitors.

Stowmarket Town welcomed Mickleover, of Pitching In Southern Premier Central. Stow were six games unbeaten, but went behind just after the break and it looked as if they were out- until Tevan Allen popped up to equalise in the last minute. Stow then triumphed three-nil in the shootout, with keeper James Bradbrook saving two.

Witham Town hoped to bounce back from defeat against Lowestoft Town last weekend as they welcomed AFC Dunstable. Their visitors are unbeaten in Pitching In Southern Division One Central, and defeated Thatcham Town in the last round- and they won again, one-nil. Witham had Lewis Payne dismissed late on.
