Only one Pitching In Isthmian North match survived the latest deluge, and it came from East London, where Walthamstow welcomed Gorleston. With only one defeat from six, Stow have been moving steadily up the table, and knew that another victory would see them close to within three points of the top five, whilst the Greens, starting the day in twelfth, were looking to bounce back from two defeats.
Stow had a number of chances in the first half, and finally took one three minutes before the break, Olly Sotoyinbo getting on the end of a knock down from Brian Moses and making no mistake. Moses is in fine form, and six minutes into the second half he got his fifth goal in his last three games, heading in a corner from Ryan Hervel.
With twenty minutes left the hosts made themselves rather comfortable by adding a third, Jared Small left with a rather easy finish, and they were entirely relaxed when Kymani Thomas added the fourth seven minutes later.
The Greens did get on the scoresheet when Harrison Hall got a goal back seven minutes from time, and they got another four minutes into added time, Jacek Zielonka pulling it back to four-two- but that’s where it ended, and Walthamstow climb to sixth place, their play off hopes intact.
That’s three matches in a row where Walthamstow have scored four goals. Redbridge will be their next test, on Saturday.
