Moore, pictured, is looking forward to taking his first steps into management at Fetcham Grove after being unveiled as the Surrey club's new player-manager on Monday morning, less than 72 hours after the surprise departure of former Fulham, Hull, Ipswich Town, MK Dons, Peterborough, West Ham and Wigan star Bullard.
The 29-year-old midfielder, who's contract with Leyton Orient was due to expire in June following their relegation from League Two, is not short on experience. After spending time with Charlton and Chelsea in his youth he eventually came through the ranks at Ipswich Town before going on to play for Brentford, Stevenage Borough and Dover Athletic. Signed by the Dons in July 2010, he made 167 appearances the club and was AFC Wimbledon's 'Player of the Year' in 2011-12.
In a club statement announcing Moore's appointment, Leatherhead chairman Richard Brady said: “It is with pleasure that the club are able to announce the capture of such an experienced league player to its ranks.
“The board were very fortunate to have so many high-level applicants apply during the process, but Sammy’s enthusiasm, coupled with his coaching badges and football knowledge, made him a stand-out candidate.
“We were keen to create continuity after the previous successful regime and Sammy is committed to the club with ambition to move us forward as a club. He is very keen to learn his trade and has already began the important role of recruitment."
Brady added: “I personally look forward to working with Sammy and know that with all our support he will be welcomed in to create the best environment possible encouraging success within our means.”
