Four-field!

By Ian Townsend

Westfield score another four goals, Walton get off the mark, whilst the Sparks down the Tanners. It’s our Pitching In Isthmian South Central Round up.

Westfield, who travelled to Leatherhead on Saturday and thrashed home four goals without reply, did it again against another highly fancied team last night, as Basingstoke Town were on the receiving end of a similar hiding. Andrew Crossley and Bradley Walsh scored a goal each midway through the first half, and midway through the second half Nathaniel Mensah and the second most famous Bradley Walsh in the world got two more. Stoke had no answer, and Field already have a goal difference twice as good as their nearest challengers. Image from On-Field Matters.

South Park Reigate were on the receiving end of a thumping on Saturday, but put things right at Leatherhead, winning by the only goal of the game to make it a miserable first week for Tanners fans. The goal came on nineteen minutes, and it came from former Tanners midfielder Craig McGee.

Walton & Hersham picked up their first win of the campaign as they defeated Chipstead three-one. The swans scored all the goals, Jordan Edeyemi, Max Blackmore and Oliver Twum scoring in the right net, and own goal giving the Chips a consolation.

We then had three one-one draws. Chertsey Town travelled to Binfield, the Moles opening the scoring midway through the first half through Sean Moore, the Curfews equalising thirty five minutes later through William Montague. Ashford Town opened the scoring at Hanworth Villa from the spot, Lewis Flatman converting a penalty five minutes before the break, but Tom Scott levelled twenty minutes from time.

Thatcham Town spoiled Marlow’s night in a match with nine yellow cards. Marlow went ahead on the stroke of half time through Curtis Chapple, and looked to have sealed all three points only for Nathan Jones to equalise right on the cusp of full time.

Tooting & Mitcham United and Merstham picked up their first point of the season with a goalless draw.
