Basildon United have wasted little time in appointing a replacement for manager John Sussex, who tendered his resignation at the weekend. The new man at the helm is former Clapton and Leyton Athletic manager Glen Kendall.

Glen is the Bees fifth manager in not much more than twelve months, and he takes on a side who might be only one place off the bottom of the North Division but who are actually in rather good form, which was why Sussex' departure came as something of a surprise. They defeated Aveley in the Essex Cup last night, and apart from the 3-2 loss at Cambridge City that precipitated that resignation have now won three of their last four matches in all competitions, and indeed have lost only two of their last eight.
