Wednesday Night football

By Ian Townsend

We've two matches tonight- and one of them is critical

If you're a Cray Wanderers or East Thurrock United fan, then you'll already know about tonight's match at Hayes Lane- indeed, you'll have bitten your fingernails down to the elbows just thinking about it- but if you're a neutral at a loose end you might want to come and watch!

Two points separate the two in the Pitching In Isthmian Premier, with Wands sitting third bottom and the Rocks one place above, with the bottom three, which currently also includes Merstham and Leatherhead, being relegated- although there is a possibility of the third bottom side gaining a reprieve. A win for the Rocks will put them out of sight and most likely relegate their hosts, a win for the Wands will push their visitors into the bottom three and really place the cat amongst the pigeons when each side play their last match on Saturday.

We'll be at the match, and there will be a report here just after the final whistle.

Into the Pitching In Isthmian South Central, and Staines Town will be welcoming Chipstead- but not to Staines, instead the match will be played at Bedfont Sports. Effectively a dead rubber, but the Chips are in very good form and on a nine match unbeaten run which they will want to keep going, whilst their 'hosts' are relegated but undoubtedly will want to end their time in the Isthmian League with a flourish.

Both matches start at 7.45 PM.
