We've a big Premier Tuesday

By Ian Townsend

And other matches across North, South East, South Central and Velocity Trophy. Here's our preview.

Pitching In Isthmian Premier

Bowers and Pitsea are back in league action after their cup heroics at the weekend, and there should be at least one new name in Rob Small's side as they host Corinthian-Casuals. Fans who travelled to Lincoln City- all four hundred and nineteen of them- will get free entry with their ticket stub, so hopefully we'll see a bumper crowd! Bowers have as many as four matches in hand over the sides around them, but it's time they began picking up league points- whilst Casuals, four points ahead having played two games more, also need to put a run together after being brilliant at times but unable to find any consistency.

Lewes, in fifth place, will move to third with victory tonight- and given their scoring record East Thurrock United must be feeling at least a little concerned at the identity of tonight's visitors. The Rocks, about to be managed by short term caretaker boss Jim Cooper for the first time, have conceded twenty seven goals during their last seven games and lost the lot; whilst the Rooks have slowed down a little, scoring two in their last three after after fifteen in the three before that.

If Lewes were to lose, then Cheshunt could leapfrog them into fifth place with victory at a fast-improving Leatherhead. The Tanners finally managed a win on Saturday, their first League win since the opening day- and it was enough to move them off the bottom. The Ambers were drawing with Folkestone Invicta, but are seven matches unbeaten and looking good for a playoff challenge. Mick Sullivan and Gary Pascoe will be streaming the game live if you can't get there.

Hornchurch picked up a victory on Saturday after eight games without one, and will look to build on that as they host Haringey Borough. Their visitors have also now gone eight games without a win, and have become our draw specialists, having drawn six of their last seven league matches.

Merstham welcome Cray Wanderers to the Whisky Bible Stadium. The Moatsiders have followed three wins in a row with three defeats in a row, whilst you never know quite what you're going to get from Wands, who walloped Kings Langley in the Trophy last time out but have been consistently inconsistent as the season has progressed. Merstham are eight points clear of their visitors, but have played three games more. Perhaps tonight is the night we get a draw- Merstham haven't drawn a single match this season, whilst their visitors have drawn only one.

Pitching In Isthmian North

We have only one fixture in the North Division, as Basildon United, in seventeenth, host Stowmarket Town, in ninth. Seven points separate the two at start of play, but Bees fans will be a little disappointed that their side hasn't picked up more points as their play has been rather better than their points tally might suggest. Town have had a solid start to the campaign, but their last four matches have seen them deliver a L-W-L-W pattern so they'll be hoping to arrest that tonight.

Pitching In Isthmian South Central

We might have only one game, but it's a biggie! Seventh place Basingstoke Town lost for the first time at the weekend against top side Bracknell Town, and now second place Uxbridge arrive to try their luck. Stoke are six points behind their visitors with two matches in hand, so this is an important one if that gap is to be closed. Anthony Mendy has treated the red army to sixteen goals so far this season, scoring in his last six- indeed there are only two mathes in which he hasn't found the net. The hosts have a similarly prolific striker, Conor Lynch on thirteen- and will go fourth with a win.

Pitching In Isthmian South East

Burgess Hill Town have looked much improved of late, losing only one of their last five and that to unbeaten goal machines Canvey Island in the FA Trophy. The Hillians welcome Faversham Town to the More Than Tyres Stadium, the Lilywhites with a similar record of one defeat in five- although that run includes a win over Premier Division Leatherhead in the FA Trophy, and victory over the Hillians big rivals, Haywards Heath Town, on Saturday.

Velocity Trophy

We've two matches in the Velocity Trophy tonight. Firstly, Maldon and Tiptree take on Aveley for the third time this season, the Jammers hoping for their first victory after the Millers won the last two. Aveley will be under new management, the Jammers seem to have begun to look more like their usual selves of late, and in the North Division league table it's fifth v fourth.

Our second match also features two sides from the same Division, as Three Brieges host Sittingbourne. Bridges are without a win in four matches- although they did draw two of them- whilst the Brickies are still looking for consistency but did get back to winning ways on Saturday, defeating VCD Athletic.
