During the dark days of the pandemic, Martin Cooper briefly raised our spirits by focusing on the Kentish Non League game in his book, 'Football Matters.' Now he's back, with a follow up which is generally accessible by Tube!
'Football Matters In The Capital' is Martin's new tome, and it does what it says on the cover, traversing locations on the inside of the M25 to bring you stories from North, South, East and West London. From a Pitching In Isthmian perspective, it covers a number of our matches, namely:
Also featured- although they weren't Isthmian clubs at the time- are Dulwich Hamlet, Hartley Wintney and Met Police.
The book is effectively a record of a season in Martin's life, during which he trekked from match to match in search of decent football, interesting stories and fine football food. It seems he found each of these, in large quantities, and his recollections will warm many a damp and windy afternoon (other weather conditions are available, just not very often).
You can purchase a copy- or download one, if you like your books in electronic format- here.
Thanks Martin, for another fine set of Isthmian stories.
