Canterbury City to share Hartsdown Park with Margate

Fans of Margate will have another club to watch when their own side aren't playing, after SCEFL side Canterbury City agreed a groundshare at Hartsdown Park next season.

City, who have most recently been sharing with Sittingbourne, last had a stadium of their own more than two decades ago. During the last ten years, as well as the Brickies, they have shared with Herne Bay, Ashford United, Deal Town and Faversham Town.

In a statement, Gate explain:

'For us, the ground share enables us to bring in additional revenue into the club which will also boost further sponsorship opportunities, as well as meaning there will be a competitive fixture each week at Hartsdown Park for fans that are unable to attend MFC away matches.

As well as the above benefits to the agreement, the two clubs have agreed a partnership which could see Margate Youth players earn game time at a senior level with Canterbury City, and likewise Margate have the opportunity to promote City players to the Isthmian league should they wish.'
