Brickies set up fund to aid stricken keeper

By Ian Townsend

Harley Earle suffered a terrible injury playing for Sitingbourne on Saturday- and the club are doing their best to show their support

Amongst the joy of Sittingbourne's win over Faversham Town on Saturday there was also dejection following a dreadful injury for goalkeeper Harley Earle- and the club have now set up a crowdfunding campaign to try and support their number one, as the injury will not only keep him from football but will stop him earning a living.

The club explain:

'Harley has a broken cheek bone, eye socket and nose and will be out for the rest of the season after Sittingbourne FC’s 0-1 win away to local rivals Faversham on 25 March.

Of course this means Harley will be unable to work as well.

Harley has been a revelation since joining the club - a real fan’s favourite, so please support if you can.'

So far more than one thousand, eight hundred pounds has been raised- and you can add to that by heading here.

Harley has already responded to the generosity shown:

"I'm totally overwhelmed by the reaction and support of all the Brickies fans!

I'm booked in for an operation in the next few days... One thing I must say is a massive thank-you to Mo our physio for everything he did to help me on Saturday and since.

As I said the response of you guys has been overwhelming and I cant tell you how much it means to me to have created such an amazing bond with you all in such a short time.

I hope to be back playing a soon as I can and hope to see you all at a game before the end of the season - if the Dr's let me!"

We hope you heal quickly, Harley, and look forward to seeing you back between the sticks next season.
