Goals galore on USA tour!

By David Watters

AFC Sudbury's academy stars have been banging in the goals in the USA!

Over twenty youngsters aged 16 to 19 from the Ryman North champions along with their management team, officials and a number of supporters jetted off to the USA last week to pack in six games during a week long trip.

Before rounding it off with a sight-seeing trip to New York and flying home to Heathrow at the weekend, the junior Yellows won four of their six matches, scoring 14 goals along the way in two victories over their Philadelphia hosts FC Revolution, 6-0 and 3-1, and a 2-1 and 3-0 win against the reserve side of Reading United's academy who were also on tour.

AFC Sudbury's two reverses came in a 2-0 defeat to Continental FC and a 1-0 loss in the final game of their American tour to Junior Lone Star FC's U23s at Alvernia University.

After signing off with some recreation time in the Big Apple, a spokesman said: "It was certainly a great experience for all concerned!"

* AFC Sudbury are urging local youngsters to sign up for their upcoming Whitsun School Break Soccer School. Taking place on Tuesday 31 May and Wednesday 1 June, places are priced at £15 per day or £25 for both. For more information visit the club's website.
