Aveley could go five clear- but it's a big day for play off chasers and relegation fighters

When already relegated Romford walked off the pitch at Canvey Island last Saturday they had just conceded a rather incredible thirteen goals, which boosted the second place Gulls goal difference no end- so leaders Aveley travel to Mayesbrook Park this afternoon hoping to give their own 'goals scored' column a bit of a boost, but more importantly open up a five point lead at the top.

The Millers slipped up last time out, losing to Hashtag United, so will hope to get back to winning ways- and if they aren't firmly in the driving seat already a five point lead with two games to go would firmly put them there. Kick off is at 3.

If Maldon & Tiptree still have play off pretentions, then a win at relegation-threatened Hullbridge Sports this evening- 7.45- is a must. The Jammers are now five points behind the top five with three games to go, so anything other than a win would effectively see them kiss their promotion hopes goodbye. Sports need the points for a far more pressing reason, as a win would open up a six point gap on the bottom three. They've won three and lost two of their last five, and will want to bounce back from last weekend's four-one defeat to play off chasing Brentwood Town.

A side with even bigger relegation worries, Barking, travel to the Len Salmon for a three o'clock kick off against Hashtag United. The Tags, buoyed by that defeat of Aveley, have a six point gap to make up on fifth placed Grays Athletic, so a top five finish may well turn out to be out of their hands, but they'll want to be in the best possible place to capitalise on any slips from the sides above them. Barking are also six points away from their target, but that six points could be the difference between survival and relegation. The Blues will want to at least get themselves into the relegation play off place with victory today- another defeat could see them doomed.
